Question:
What needs to be set up for the Baronial Camping area?
Answer:
The Barony has a perimeter comprised of yellow rope held up by re-bar stakes. Those stakes
must be hammered into the ground and the string attached. This year we will be adding
banners to hang from the ropes for decoration.
The front entrance gate must be assembled.
A fire pit hole must be dug and the fire wood stacked.
A sump hole for the camp shower must be dug and the shower frame assembled.
Tiki torches are added to the perimeter ropes.
Question:
Who takes care of getting ice for the camp?
Answer:
The camp will not have community coolers. Each baronial member will be responsible for
obtaining their own ice. Some households or groups that camp within the baronial encampment
coordinate large ice runs.
Question:
How is trash handled in camp?
Answer:
We all are responsible for keeping our camp area clean. Trash dumpsters are available down
the hill from camp.
Question:
What duties are needed during Pennsic?
Answer:
Tending the fire pit and filling/lighting tiki torches are a daily ritual. Volunteering to help with
these items helps everyone.
Question:
What do we need to do to break the campsite down? When will you begin clean up?
Answer:
Site breakdown will begin Saturday morning. Assistance with taking apart the camp perimeter,
filling in the fire pit and shower sump would be most appreciated. Many people leave on
Saturday, so they can get home and have a day to rest before they go back to work on Monday.
If we all pitch in, the camp can be disassembled quickly with minimal effort by Saturday
evening.
Question:
Can I register Ghost members to have more space?
Answer:
No! We are already concerned about too many people in our space. DO NOT register
ghost people!
Question:
Pennsic only gives me 250 sq feet of space. My tent exceeds that size. What do I do?
Answer:
a.) Bring a smaller tent, b.) have someone share the tent with you to share their space. c.) Buy a
ghost registration. (although- I am still waiting to hear about ghost registrations)
Question:
I need to wait until Pennsic to give you my camp fee.
Answer:
All camp fees must be postmarked to me by June 16th, 2008. If I do not receive your camp fee,
you will be directed to single camping.
I have begun to receive questions about camping at Pennsic and being part of our Baronial encampment. Whether you are new to Pennsic or just new to camping with our Barony, please ask questions. Someone else may have the same question or may not even know to ask. After replying to your question via email, I will copy and post questions and answers here, so that everyone may have the benefit of your inquiries.
